A descendant of Merari from the tribe of Levi. King David made him a gatekeeper. Hosah was the father of Shimri, Hilkiah, Tebaliah, and Zechariah.
About Hosah
Merarite Levite who guarded the gate of the tent where the sacred ark was kept (1 Chr 16:38) when David brought it to Jerusalem. His gatekeeping responsibilities were shared by his sons (26:10–16).

The lots for the West Gate and the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending highway fell to Shuppim and Hosah. There were guards stationed at every watch.
