Uriel, also called Zephaniah, was a man from the tribe of Levi living during the time of the divided kingdom, first mentioned in 1 Chronicles 6:24.
About Uriel
A member of the Levite tribe, the people who served in God's temple. He belonged to a family group called the Kohathites. His father was Tahath, and his son was Uzziah (1 Chronicles 6:24).
A Levite who watched over the moving of the ark from the house of Obed-edom to Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 15:5–11). He was a Kohathite clan chief in charge of 120 of the men who helped in the ceremony. Uriel had to go through special preparation to make himself pure before God so that he could carry the ark.
