Those who make wise choices will live in the land; those who do not will be evicted. God gave the land of Israel to his people, but they could only stay if they followed God's commands (Deuteronomy 28:9–11, 64–68). Because they broke his law, they were expelled in 586 BC (see 2 Kings 25:1–30; 2 Chronicles 36:15–21).
20So you will follow in the ways of the good,and keep to the paths of the righteous.21For the upright will inhabit the land,and the blameless will remain in it;22but the wicked will be cut off from the land,and the unfaithful will be uprooted.
