A Philistine man from the city of Gath. He and 600 other men from Gath stayed loyal to King David when David had to flee from his son Absalom. Absalom was trying to take over the kingdom (2 Samuel 15:18–22). Ittai commanded a third of the army of David in the battle against the forces of Absalom (18:2, 5).
