Jerahmeel

This term has multiple meanings in the Bible:

1. Firstborn of Hezron’s three sons, the father of six sons and a descendant of Judah through Perez’s line (1 Chr 2:9–42). He was the founder of the family of Jerahmeelites, who in David’s time lived in the Negev region and occupied a number of cities (1 Sm 27:10; 30:29).→ View encyclopedia entry
