About Almond
A tree that looks similar to a peach tree. Its scientific name is Amygdalus communis. The almond tree has pointed leaves with jagged edges and gray bark. It grows to a height of 3 to 7.6 meters (10 to 25 feet). Almond trees blooms very early in the year.
The Hebrew name for almond (shaqed) comes from a word that means "to watch for." To the Jewish people, the almond was a sign of spring (Jeremiah 1:11).
