Description and usage

The shorts were an undergarment for the lower body. The references above indicate that it was made of linen (see Linen). While this garment was in common use, it is mentioned only in reference to the High Priest and his fellow priests. It was to be worn next to their skin, under their priestly garments.


Translation

The closest natural equivalent for “shorts” in the receptor language should be used. Some languages differentiate between undergarments worn by men and those worn by women. In all of the references listed above, a word for men’s undergarments should be chosen.
