Greek ναός (naos)

Description

The shrine model was a small replica or model of a temple or shrine. It is likely that some people treated them with special veneration, but the models mentioned in Acts were primarily souvenirs.

Translation

In ACT 19:24 the Greek term naos is rendered in some languages as “tiny temples” or “souvenir temples.” This will often be a good place to use a descriptive phrase. For the literal phrase “silver temples of Artemis,” GNT and CEV have “silver models of the temple of the goddess Artemis,” NCV has “little silver models that looked like the temple of the goddess Artemis,” and SPCL says “small silver figures which represented the temple ….”
