Bedroom

Description and usage

The bedroom was a room in a dwelling used primarily for sleeping.

Translation

ACT 12:20: In this verse Blastus is referred to literally as “the one over the bedroom of the king.” The emphasis here is not on the use of a bedroom but on the position of Blastus, who was a highly respected person with considerable responsibility for the king’s living quarters and personal affairs. So Blastus may be spoken of as “a high official of the king.”

Every occurrence of the Greek word koitōn in Judith refers to a bedroom in a tent, not in a permanent building. Where a language has a specific word for such a compartment in a tent, this word should be used here.
