Description
Embroidered cloth was cloth into which decorative patterns or figures were sewn by hand. Because of the extra work that went into it, embroidered cloth was expensive.
Translation
Where there is no word for “embroidery,” it is possible to use a descriptive expression; for example, in EXO 26:36NCV has “Someone who can sew well is to sew designs on it,” and in EZK 27:7 it says “linen with designs sewed on it.” Where even this is difficult to express in the receptor language, translators may say simply “fancy linen” or “decorated cloth.”
