Description

The system of posts with rings at the top (as described in 3.15.2.3.7 above) was also used to suspend curtains or hangings that formed the perimeter of the Tabernacle courtyard. The hangings were made of linen (see Linen). Their dimensions are given in EXO 27:9–EXO 27:19 and EXO 38:9–EXO 38:20.

Translation

The Hebrew word for “hangings” in EXO 27:9 is different from the word for “curtains” in EXO 26:1 (see Linen cloth strips) and may suggest a different kind of weaving. Many English translations have “hangings” (RSV, REB), one has “draperies,” and both GNT and CEV say “curtains.” In many languages this will be rendered “large pieces of [linen] cloth.”
