A son of the patriarch Levi who lived during the time of the Egyptian slavery and wilderness wandering of the Israelites.
About Kohath
Kohath was a son of Levi (Genesis 46:11; Exodus 6:16). He was the father of Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel (Exodus 6:18; Numbers 3:19, 27; 1 Chronicles 6:2). He was the founder of the Kohathite family of Levites who were responsible for important duties in the tabernacle service (Numbers 3:31–32). Moses, Aaron, and Miriam were descendants of Kohath (Exodus 6:18–20; Numbers 26:59; 1 Chronicles 6:3; 23:13–17).

Joshua (5)
The first lot came out for the Kohathite clans. The Levites who were descendants of Aaron the priest received thirteen cities by lot from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.
The remaining descendants of Kohath received ten cities by lot from the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.
